English

The presence of noise in images from the industrial, military, and medical applications is one of the important factors that affect the quality of the images and can interfere with the proper functioning of these applications. Random-valued impulse noise is one of the noise types which can distort the images. Due to the need for real-time implementation in some of the mentioned applications, providing real-time noise reduction approaches with the appropriate hardware complexity is of particular importance. To achieve this goal, researchers have proposed different approaches with software and hardware views. In this paper, by separating the pixels of the image according to the region in which they are located, on the one hand, and studying the effect of noise on them, on the other hand, a hardware architecture for detecting and reconstructing of noise pixels is proposed. The results of performed simulations and implementations indicate the appropriate performance of the proposed method and its superiority or comparability comparing the examined hardware and software approaches.
